Step 1: Gather together the materials that you will need such as: A long tube sock. It does not matter what color it is and it can be either new or used. If you do not have a tube sock you can use a travel sized pillowcase. Again color does not matter. Three new tennis balls. Ribbon to tie around the sock or pillowcase.( optional) Needle and thread.
Step 2: Make sure the tube sock or travel size pillowcase is clean. If using the travel size pillowcase cut the pillowcase in half and sew one half of the pillowcase together with needle and thread, either by hand or with a sewing machine. Leave an opening at the top of the pillowcase.
Step 3: Place the three new tennis balls into either the tube sock or travel size pillowcase and tie a knot at both ends so that the tennis balls will stay in the center of the tube.
Step 4: Tie ribbon around the knot for decoration if so desired.
Step 5: Use the back massager by taking both ends of the tube, by the knots, in your hands. Roll your new handmade massager firmly up and down against your back. Or, if you prefer, you can hold the massager against a wall vertically and roll your back across it from side to side. You can also hold the massager against the wall horizontally and roll your back against it up and down. Use which ever method that seems to work the best and that is most comfortable for you to use.
A massage can help you cope with stress and pain. This inexpensive home made back massager can be cleaned and used over and over again providing many hours of back and neck pain and soreness relief. This simple project will also make a nice home made gift for someone you care for.
