To lose weight in a safe and effective manner, the ideal weekly loss would be a maximum of 2 pounds. For people who are only slightly overweight, that number could be ever lower. While it might sounds too small of a number, keep in mind that the slower you lose the weight, the better your odds are to keep it off. Choose a diet that includes 3 meals a day, and small healthy snacks if necessary. In addition, never limit your calories below 1,200 per day.
