She shouldn't have to. If she does you should choose another airline. It is her right to fly at the same cost as anyone without a disability. Be careful though! I was a service technician for a year working on a wide range of mobility equipment, and I am now doing tech support at the best power chair company in the world, Permobil. I have heard and continue to hear Horror stories about power chair users that were put through a tough time to get through to their flight. Just make sure you: 1. Arrive extra early (2-3hrs) 2. Be prepared to have your equipment thoroughly inspected. Know how to disasemble your unit in case you get someone who wants to look in every nook and cranny, even though they don't know how to get to every nook and cranny. 3. Write down names of people handling the chair, this will help their insurance decide to pay a little faster if damage occurs.
