The answer is some flat edge on a couple of needle bearings on the universal joint.
A clicking noise, when accelerating, can be caused by a worn CV joint. The CV joint can cause the axle to collapse when it breaks.
Exhaust manifold gasket leaking
Coming from the drive wheels? Could be worn CV joints

My 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 280 hp engine is making metal clicking sounds when I accelerate. It gets worse the faster I go. The battery went dead and had to be jumped two days ago. The car starts fine but then it makes this clicking sound when I put it in drive and go. It happens in park also. What is this?
Clicking sounds coming from the vehicle may indicate there are loose valves. Aside from getting a mechanic checkup, adding high mileage motor oil can also be helpful.

most of the time when a u-joint starts going out it will make noise in rewind first
Its usually a U joint. Click under acceleration . While turning,a CV joint. Grinding or moaning is usually a bearing.
