Some you do and some you don't. If you can put the pitman arm puller on and remove the pitman arm then leave the gear box alone. If the puller won't fit on it Then remove the gear box.
Bring it to the garage. it is a pain. you have to remove the power steering pump
Hey, you need to buy or rent a pitman arm puller. lock the steering wheel on center, remove pitman arm nut, then use the puller to release the pitman arm from the steering gearbox. make sure not to turn the steering wheel while unhooked from the pitman arm or you will damage the airbag clock spring in the steering wheel. good luck and be carfull ps, you may have to tighten the puller then tap the head of the screw on the puller then tighten then tap ect.
first loosen the nut on the pitman arm then separate the pitman arm from the gearbox using a pitman arm puller.then remove three or four bolts from gearbox to vehicle frame, that's it!
Remove bolt from rag joint. You will need a 12 point 1/2 inch socket. Remove the pitman arm nut and use a pitman arm puller to remove the pitman arm from the gear box. Remove the three bolt that hold the gear box to the frame. To install reverse instructions.
ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE PITMAN ARM? MAYBE YOU MEAN THE IDLER ARM? THE PITMAN ARM IS RALREY EVER CHANGED. THIS IS THE ARM THAT CONNECTS THE STEERING LINKAGE TO THE POWER STEERING BOX. ITS AT THE BASE OF THE STEERING BOX , UNDER THE CAR, IT PROTRUDES FROM THE STEERING BOX SHAFT CONNECTING SAME TO THE CENTER LINK.
On some vehicles you do need a puller to remove the Pitman arm.
It is not possible to remove the power steering pulley on a 1997 Buick Le Sabre without removing the power steering pump.
You can remove the steering will, on your Ford Ranger pickup truck, by removing the steering wheel pin. Remove the wiring harness and the steering wheel will come off.
My guess is you installed the pitman arm incorrectly. Remove the pitman arm from the steering box, set the wheels straight, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and then turn it all the way to the right counting the turns as you go. Divide the number of turns in half and turn the wheel that number to the left then reattach the pitman arm.
Jack up your vehicle and remove the big nut that holds the steering arm to the steering box. It is attached very tightly and you may need specialized tools like a pitman arm puller to do this. Remove the arm from the steering shaft and then disconnect it from the centerlink.
When removing steering box the steering wheel has to be removed steering shaft is not remove able it will have to slide down when steering box is removed ie then remove pit man arm and bolts from the frame
The dimmer switch is said to be included with the steering column switch. Before replacing disconnect battery and removing steering wheel. After removing the steering column switch trim, unscrew hex bolt. Remove and replace switch and return components.
