Can test it with either an inline spark tester that connects between the spark plug and the plug wire. It will light up when it there is a spark. Also you can take the plug out and connect the plug wire to it and then as some is pulling the starter chord almost touch the plug electrode to the engine casing. It will create a spark between them. Always make sure first that you have a good spark plug. There is a way to ohm test the plug, but it has been so long since I have done it I cant remember the resistance it should or shouldn't have. Also make sure the the wires for the on/off switch and grounding wires are connected. It is not very common for a coil to go bad in these things. Usually it is another problem. Jump the on/off switch if you have to. Hope this helps and good luck.

Your weedeater may not be producing a spark due to a faulty spark plug, a disconnected or damaged ignition coil, or a problem with the ignition switch. Check these components to troubleshoot the issue.

How do you test the coil on 1994 Toyota Corolla?

remove the distributor cap and clamp a test light to ground. hold the point of the test light about 1/2" from the coil output electrode. have someone crank the engine and look to see if sparks jump across to the point on the testlight. if they do the coil is ok. if they dont clamp the testligt to the + terminal of the coil and put the point on the - side. again, have somone crank the engine, if the light flashes the signal is good. replace the coil.

Why would a test light placed on the distributor side of the coil flicker when the engine is cranked?

It is normal. In order for you to create a spark, the coil has to open and close.

How do you test a coil pack on 2002 trailblazer?

Pull each coil plug off one at a time while the engine is running... The coil pack that is bad will NOT have a difference in engine noise, but the ones that are good you will hear a slight decrease in engine noise when you unplug the coil and then plug it back up again... Hope this helps everyone!

How do you test ingition coils on a 1999 s80 Volvo?

If the reason you want to check the coils is because of a check engine misfire code swap the coil with a coil from another cylinder, clear the codes, drive if the check engine light comes back on see if the code follows the coil you moved. If so replace the coil.

You have the coil would a test show if you were pregnant?

Distributor ? whats the problem with the car?? you may want to check the coil packs at the front of the car on almost the bottom of the engine. You can test them by removing the coil pack from the module assy and check for a trigger signal between the module terminals with a test light while someone assist you by turning over the engine.

Engine coil? Are you talking about the ignition coil? Springs are coiled, And valves-spings are coiled…I have never heard of an engine coil w/o specifying which coil needs to be replaced.

How do you test a small engine ignition coil on a 22 hp kohler while the coil is not installed?

You can't test a coil off the unit the only way to test the coil is disable the kill circuit if it fires it mean u have other problems such as a safety switch problem like seat switch or neutral safety switch. The above answer is completely false. You use an ohm meter and test to manufacturers specs for the ohm of your specific coil, typically in the 8,000 ohm range +/- 2,000 ohms. Save
