The speedometer in a 1987 Chrysler LeBaron may not work due to a faulty speed sensor, which sends the vehicle's speed information to the speedometer. Additionally, issues such as a broken speedometer cable, electrical problems, or a malfunctioning instrument cluster can also cause the speedometer to fail intermittently. Checking the connections and replacing any damaged components can often resolve the issue.
