Rebuilding a 4L60E transmission involves several key steps: First, remove the transmission from the vehicle and disassemble it carefully, taking note of the order and orientation of parts. Clean all components and inspect for wear or damage, replacing any faulty parts such as clutches, seals, and bearings. Reassemble the transmission with a new gasket and fluid, ensuring proper torque specifications, and finally reinstall it in the vehicle, filling it with the appropriate Transmission Fluid. It’s essential to follow a detailed manual or guide specific to the 4L60E to ensure correct assembly and function.
You BEST leave that to a PRO/ transmission man.
Not particularly difficult, if you're somewhat mechanically inclined and have the appropriate tools to do it. Assuming you have the 4L60E, rebuild kit is about $250 from Jeg's.
I made a little video with a walkthrough of the rebuild procedure here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpmJtuVrdWk !
There's no trick are easy fix for that. You must pull the transmission out and have a trained mechanic rebuild it.
If you're changing it, it's five quarts for a service, 12 quarts for a flush/rebuild (including the torque coverter) for the 4L60E automatic.

Yes, They will interchange.
no. the 4l60e shifts electronicily off the computer.you would have to ghange the wiring harnessfor a 4l60e tranny.
The 4L60E transmission typically requires about 11 to 12 quarts (approximately 10 to 11 liters) of fluid for a complete fill. However, the amount needed can vary depending on factors such as whether the transmission is being serviced or if it’s a complete rebuild. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for the precise fluid capacity and specifications.
The E in 4L60E stands for ELECTRONIC and the 700R4 is NOT ELECTRONIC controlled. But the 4L60E is. Therefor they will NOT interchange.
