most rotors have a threaded hole so that you can screw in a bolt to back the rotor off of the hub. there may also be a small emergency brake set up inside the inner hub portion of the rotor. if someone has driven with the e-brake on, there may be the same type of lip you would encounter on drum brakes. hope this helps.

How do you replace rotors on 2004 Monte Carlo?

Remove tire Remove the two bolts holding on the callepers and lift the callepers off. The Rotor should pull off they may be seased give them a smack with a deadblow and they should loosen enough to slide off. Install the new rotor. The calliper will need to be reset by removing the break pad and pressing the cylinder in with a calliper tool or a C clamp. (take care to depress the cylinder evenly) Replace the break pad or put the old one back on. (you'll probably need to replace the break pad if your rotor needs replaced.) Put the calliper back onto the rotor and bolt it back on Place the wheel back on.

How do you remove the rear rotors on a 2003 ford explorer?

Once you remove the break system and the caliber your rotor will be exposed, check the back to make sure their are no more lines in or around your rotor and get a hammer and block of wood(so you don't dammage or chip your rotor) or a rubber malet if available. Tap all the way around your rotor, beating to the inside like your trying to put it back on. This should loosen the dust and rust and allow you to take it off. If not tap it from the back all the way around attempting to drive it off the studs.

How do you remove and replace the front and back rotors on a 1996 Chrysler Sebring Coupe?

Remove the calipers on the front ones and they should slide right out. On the back after you remove the caliper , you need a screw that fits the 2 holes by the lug nuts and screw it in until the rotor pops then just slide it out. keep your parking brake off. The rear one is also the parking brake drum. If your rotor is rusted to the wheel bearing, which it probably will be, use a hammer on it to attempt to break loose the rust and release the rotor.

Rotor removal on 82 Camero?

Remove the wheel. Unbolt and set aside the brake caliper. Remove the dust cap at the center of the rotor. Remove the cotter pin, then unscrew the wheel bearing nut. Wiggle the rotor a bit, then remove the outer seal (washer) and outer wheel bearing. Put the nut back on a few turns Grasp the rotor very gently and slide the rotor off at high speed allowing it to drop by force of gravity. The inner bearing should snag on the nut keeping the inner bearing and race on the spindle as the rotor comes off. Remove the nut. Do not forget to clean and repack your wheel bearings before you put the rotor back on.

How do you replace front rotors on a 2000 Nissan Frontier?

You have to take off the cap in the middle of the rotor...which houses the bearing, then unscrew two screws and remove the retainer ring( be careful not to strip the screws), then use a screwdriver and a hammer to remove the nut that holds the bearing in pull on the rotor till it comes off...then use a 14mm socket or nut driver to remove the rotor from the mounting hub.....pop the ring off holding the back bearing then put the bearing in the new rotor then put the ring back on....then bolt you mounting hub back on and slide the rotor back on the spindle....make sure it goes on all the way...
