To remove the ignition starter switch on a 1994 Plymouth Acclaim, first disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical issues. Then, remove the steering column cover by unscrewing the screws that hold it in place. Locate the ignition switch, typically found near the ignition lock cylinder, and disconnect the wiring harness. Finally, unscrew the mounting screws and carefully pull the ignition switch out of its housing.
In a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim, the starter is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the transmission. It is mounted to the bell housing of the transmission and is accessible from underneath the vehicle. To replace or service the starter, it may be necessary to remove components such as the air intake or battery for better access.
The starter on a 1990 Plymouth Acclaim is located on the lower side of the engine, near the transmission. It is positioned towards the rear of the engine bay, mounted to the engine block. To access it, you may need to lift the vehicle and remove any components obstructing the starter, such as the battery or heat shield.

Work inward in a circular motion.
The 1992 Plymouth Cold ignition switch is held in place by a retaining ring. Remove the retaining ring at the top of the ignition switch. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

The first step is to unhook the battery.

1Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove the 3 bolts attaching the starter to the engine/transaxle. Remove the heat shield and its clamp, if so equipped. Remove the 2 electrical wire connector terminal nuts and remove the wiring connectors from the starter. Remove the starter from vehicle. Clean all wire terminals of dirt,grease or corrosion. Reattach the electrical wire connectors and secure with the mounting nuts. Tighten the starter solenoid B+ nut to 80 inch lbs, and the solenoid wire to starter nut to 55 inch lbs. Reinstall the heat shield if one was removed.
