You have to reach up behind the dash and push a small spring loaded button on the headlight switch, then the knob and shaft will pull out as one.

turn headlight knob to the right, or remove the fuse
if you pull the knob all the way out, I think on the thin shaft is a little release button that you depress to fully remove the knob.AnswerBull crap I cant find it!
To remove the knob there is quick release on the back edge of the knob, simply push the lever and the knob will pull off. To install a replacement knob simple push it onto the shaft until it clicks into place.
I just saw this in a Goldwing Repair book at the dealer. First look at the headlight adjustment knob inside the faring. Twist it until you see a retaining screw. Remove the screw and then remove the knob. There should be a nut around the main headlight shaft that you can remove, which will then allow you to slide the entire headlight assembly out through the front of the fairing. Once the whole assembly is out, remove the retaining ring and disassemble the light housing. Reverse the process to reassemble.Good luck!
You push the "knob" in, and turn it anticlockwise, the unit should pull out then.
If you pull out on the knob the third light will light up.
If the wiper knob is mounted on the dash, there should be a small clip on the back side of it. The spring loaded clip can be moved with a small paper clip sized metal piece, allowing the knob to come off.
Loosen the Jam nut on the bottom of the know CW and then turn the knob CCW..
