To remove the transmission from a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, first, disconnect the battery and drain the Transmission Fluid. Next, remove any components obstructing access, such as the battery, air intake, and exhaust components. Then, disconnect the transmission linkage, wiring harness, and any drive shafts before unbolting the transmission from the engine. Finally, support the transmission with a jack and carefully lower it from the vehicle.
