1) Disconnect Battery (start with ground or "minus")
2) Clear space over rear end of primary housing where the solenoid sits (like exhaust pipes, bags, etc.)
3) Remove cover(s) from solenoid wiring. Some have chrome caps on the original rubber over. Push rubber cover back along wiring (2 thick 1 thin wires)
4) Remove actuation wire (the thin one in the middle) using a 3/8" wrench. You may need an additional thin wrench or pliers to hold the locking nut under the wire shoe in place. Otherwise you may damage the stud and connections inside the solenoid.
5) Remove the two "thick" wires - make sure to mark which was on the longer and which on the shorter copper stud.
6) Use a long Allen key to loosen and remove the two bolts located inward (transmission side) - watch out not to loose the spacer between solenoid and primary case.
7) Gently pull the Solenoid forward and remove.
8) Check the rubber gasket and pushrod assembly on wear and damage - when in doubt, replace (this requres removin the primary cover - pretty oily work!)
9) Just replace the old solenoid with a new one and assemble everything in exact reverse order. Do not over-tighten mounting bolts or connectors.
10) Check function and go for a ride.
