1992 volkswagen golf timing!ok so this is for a 1992 Volkswagen mk2 Golf- to set the timing you have to do it perfect now take the belt off that runs to the top of the motor ( cam shaft ) on the rite side of the car ON the transmission next to your clutch cable your going to see a black plug that looks liek a giant torque bit will fit into...there should be a hole in the middle.. look in there ... have someone reallly slowly turn the motor over by hand - on the left hand hide under the wheel fender.. put a spark plug socket on the crank and rotate it atleast twice before proceeding.. once you have rotated it twice look in that hole u will see a V mark tehre will be 2 side by side... u want to live the fat V up in the very center of the peep hole that lines up your lower end crank... now for the top cam shaft.... there will be a marking saying TOP or thre will be a indent that looks like a dot ( period like this . ) that should be meeting with the top of the metal belt siding attached to your motor .. just focas on the TOP part.. then stick the belt back on.. make sure the slack is at the back of the belt tightin the pully back up that times you valves and lower end.. now for ignition ... have someone crank the car over continusly... if it dosent fire...losin the bolt on the distrubuter... rotate it very slow while cranking the motor.. once it starts.. your good.. get a timing light and set that as well if you have any questions .. or can under stand this messs thanks for reading if you need any information on any vw-problems email me at
