Yes most of the time you can when you are pulling the Bird backwards. When pulling from the front, it is possible, but take your time and watch what you are hooking around.

Good luck! The top bolt is impossible to get to. I used the excuse that I had to take the entire transmission out to work on the clutch so that I could really change the starter motor. Two thumbs down for the engineers at Ford on that one!

According to the 2003 Ford Thunderbird Owner Guide : With engine oil filter change : The 3.9 liter V8 engine takes ( 6.5 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )
