The clutch is located on the flywheel between the engine and transmission, so the engine and transmission will have to be separated. Place a support under the back end of the engine, remove the drive shaft and starter, disconnect the clutch cable and shift linkage, remove the speedometer cable from the tail shaft, unbolt the transmission from the engine, then unbolt the transmission mounts and slide the transmission out. It will be very helpful to have a helper at this stage. Take a wood block and jam the flywheel in place through the starter hole and loosen the bolts hold the pressure plate to the flywheel, then pop the pressure plate off the locating pegs and there is your clutch. While you have the clutch off, it would be a good idea to also replace the pressure plate and throw out bearing too. If the surface of the flywheel is not smooth, unbolt it from the crankshaft and take it to a machine shop to get it resurfaced. When installing the new clutch plate, insert a large wooden dowel through the center hole to align the clutch plate before tightening the bolts on the pressure plate. As they say, reassembly is the reverse of the disassembly. The skinned knuckles and blood loss are well worth the money you will save.
