The Torque Converter is part of the transmission, not part of the engine. The torque converter needs to come off with the transmission. You need to remove the starter to access the torque converter bolts/nuts and separate it from the flex plate. Besides loosing all of the fluid in the torque converter, you stand to damage converter seals and/or the pump if the converter isn't properly installed in the transmission.
To remove the torque converter from a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle, first, disconnect the battery and drain the transmission fluid. Next, remove the transmission pan and the transmission mount to access the torque converter. Unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate while rotating the engine to access all the bolts. Finally, carefully pull the torque converter out of the transmission once it is unbolted.
are u sure its from the engine and not the tranny or front end? if from engine a motor mount or a bearing rubbing tranny may be slipping and catching or the torque converter, also front end may be worn if 4wd such as driveshafts and stuff or alignment
There is one on the front passenger side and a torque strut on the front. The torque strut acts like a motor mount.
the torque mount is usually on the bottom front of the engine and it keeps the engine from shifting to much when switching gears
You've got 4 mounts total. A transmission mount, then on the other side of the motor, you've got a mount that goes to the middle of the engine that is in the fender, and upper torque strut and a lower torque strut on that same side.

To replace the motor mount on a 1987 Buick Electra Park Avenue, first, ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported. Remove any components obstructing access to the motor mount, such as the air intake or battery. Support the engine with a hoist or jack, then unbolt the old motor mount from the engine and frame. Install the new motor mount by reversing the removal process, ensuring all bolts are tightened to the specified torque.
Purchase your replacement part. Put a jack under the engine with a board to support the engine. Put slight pressure on the engine but no more. Remove the mount and replace. Lower jack.
An engine mount holds an engine in place. It can also be called a motor mount if a motor is specifically referenced.
of course.
The year, make, model and engine wasn't mentioned but in general you remove the motor mount anchor bolt(s), lift the engine a few inches and support it safely, unbolt motor mount(s) from engine, remove mount(s), replace mount(s) and finish in reverse order.
