my tune up requires work but the results are amazing. i have a 01 Dakota and it runs like a dream. like most Dodge owners dream
1. replace spark plugs
2. replace spark plug wires
3. replace distributor cap and rotor and coil (where that 1 extra wire goes to)
4. (on freshly driven hot engine) pour half can of sea foam (found at auto store) in oil fill cap and idle engine for 10 minutes, change oil and oil filter immediately after, use only mobil 1 oil from now on, use mobil 1 oil filter, royal purple or bosch. the Dakota is notorious for having a small pickup screen on the oil pump which gets clogged. you must change your oil religiously on this truck regardless of miles.
5. buy can of deep creep (auto store) remove air intake over the top of the engine, open the throttle and spray into manifold for solid 45 seconds, allow to sit for 15 minutes or while you are doing all of the other stuff.
6. replace air filter
7. top off fluids, brake, clutch if manual trans., power steering, coolant.
8. buy new filter, gasket, and gasket adhesive for your transmission, buy proper Transmission Fluid for truck, manual or auto, one is trans fluid, the other is gear oil, replace trans. fluid (must be religious about fresh trans fluid in dodge)
9. after all fluids are done, all parts replaced, now start your engine and give it hell, this will allow the deep creep you sprayed in earlier to clear all of the left over carbon and crap inside the manifold and valves to clear out, with the engine running grab your deep creep after clearing the smoke away from your tail pipe, spray your deep creep into the throttle while pulling the mechanism a bit to give it some gas, try not to kill the engine, don't spray too much, it helps to clean the valves.
now you have finished the best tune up you could ever do, next on the list, brake bleed, differential flush, radiator flush.
I changed my tps sensor on my 2001 Dakota and it solved this problem.
Cylinder #8 misfire. Something is causing #8 to not fire properly, suggest you start with a tune up.

It depends on if you have insurance or not. If you don't it would probably cost $25 to $40. If you do have insurance, it will cost up to $5 or $10.
the gross vehical weight is 2663 pounds according to the sticker on my door
It is not adjustable. It uses a hydraulic master/slave cylinder assembly that automatically takes up any slack.
No.
Turn the radio on. Press SET button. This puts the radio in (Program) mode. Press SEL button, then use the up and down on tune to set the hour, then press SEL and use tune to set the minutes.
If they are Automatics it will not shift properly. It would bolt up if they are the same engine.
