It depends what you consider to be a "slow drain" the parasidic load on this vehicle will discharge a FULLY charged battery in 21 days. How new is the battery and what state or charge is it in? Have you checked the Alternator? Like most batterys in cars, trucks, ect, they tend to get dirty. A slow battery drain is more than likely caused by a short between your +/- posts. To check this, attach one lead of a low volt meter the + post of the battery, and then draw the other lead across the top of the battery. If the meter shows any voltage at all, that's the problem. Wash the battery with a mixture of backing powder & water, and rinse. Dry the area between the posts & check with the meter again. I've often seen (online) that there is a problem with the load-leveling system which causes this....Here's a page which discusses this:
Empty the gas tank (syphon the tank) then take out the battery, and spark plugs. This was one of the most complicated process on the car. I recommend taking the spark plugs before the battery.
Have you had the alternator tested? It may not be regulating the energy to the battery, causing it to drain
its probalby the same as the earlier models forsay 1988
No, it is obd 1.No, it is obd 1.
It could be two things. As you know, the alternator charges the battery so it will not drain. If the alternator is not working properly to charge the battery, the battery will continuously drain. Have the alternator tested at your local Auto Parts store (NAPA or Advance Auto) If it is good, have the battery checked.
Thur the dip stick..... Thur the dip stick.....
Becacuset there's something still drawing power. Hook an ampmeter to the battery, then pull the fuses one by one to see when the current drain stops. Then look at what's powered from that fuse to find the fault.
bad battery. it gives off the rest of its power when its about dead. and that's what causes surging
YOU drain the engine oil from the rubber tube just under the battery tray. THERE is a plug built into the underside of the tray. ....Have a few rags under the bike ...this can get MESSY. Alan
To replace the radiator in a 1988 Cabriolet, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the battery. Drain the coolant by removing the drain plug or lower radiator hose, then detach the upper and lower hoses from the radiator. Remove any mounting bolts or clips securing the radiator, lift it out, and replace it with the new radiator. Reconnect the hoses, refill the coolant, and reconnect the battery before starting the engine to check for leaks.
On a 1988 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo, the oil sender pressure unit is typically located near the oil filter, mounted on the engine block. It is usually found on the driver's side, towards the rear of the engine. You may need to access it from underneath the vehicle for better visibility and easier removal.
Drain the system from the lower hose on the rad.
