The front window regulators compatible with a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis include those from various Ford models of the same era, such as the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car. Aftermarket options may also be available, so it's advisable to check compatibility with specific part numbers. Always verify fitment with a trusted auto parts supplier or mechanic to ensure proper installation.

window regulators on a MGM are a time consuming task. you need to remove inside door panel, witch has a few hidden fasteners installed. behind door handle, inside courtesy lamps and also in arm rests. once the panel is removed you must detach the door glass from the regulators regulator will come with the motor attached-to it. some regulators are riveted to the door frame. you will have to drill rivet heads and replace with bolt and nuts on assembly. remove motor from regulator and reassemble.
You have to replace a whole thing, not only a cable

I have a '97 and the window regulators for the rear are different from the front. They are also harder to find and when you do find them they are more expensive.
Usually that would be the case, however their are variations in both cars.
Average Cost per regulator is around $75 to $100 depending on the shop.
