The left rear strut on a 1994 Geo Metro is held to the body by a combination of bolts and a mounting plate. Specifically, the top of the strut is secured to the body through a strut mount that typically consists of three bolts. The bottom of the strut connects to the rear control arm with another bolt. Proper torque specifications should be followed during installation for safety and performance.

Make, model, year, would help, depends on how it came thru and what came thru. If the mounting bolts are still there and the body doesn't appear damaged it shouldn't be a problem. If it's just the center rod, put on a new strut. Might as well do both sides as they are most likely the same age.

Mandolins are normally held like a guitar- For a right handed player this would be with the body of the mandolin on your right thigh, with the neck of the mandolin in your left hand. For a lft handed player this would be reversed
