The Ford Bronco transmission can use any SAE certified transmission fluid. Ford transmissions manufactured before 1979 will need an F type transmission fluid.

It doesn't have a dipstick for the manual transmission , the transmission fluid level is checked at the FILL PLUG on the side of the transmission
The 1988 Ford Bronco typically holds about 12 quarts of transmission fluid when performing a complete fluid change, including the torque converter. Dexron or Mercon III or one that is compatible with those two types. Power steering takes Type F Transmission fluid.
Put a pan under the transmission. Remove the plug with a suitable box or socket wrench and let it flow.
