when facing the engine, it's screwed into the right side of the intake manifold (big silver thingy with 2.8 numerals) just below those two hoses. On a 2.0 liter engine, the sensor is on the left side (if you're standing in front of the engine) of the intake manifold, which is the aluminum colored metal piece housed within the left side of the engine compartment. It has the Volkswagen logo and "2.0" emblazoned on it. Follow the link below titled Images of a 1997 VW Jetta GL 2.0 Liter Engine Compartment for more.
Which model is your engine?
The intake air temperature sensor is located just after the top of the intercooler. It will have color coded wires coming from it.
The MAF ( Mass Air flow) sensor is located right on the intake pipe. Can't miss it.
The Intake Air Tmperature Sensor is incorporated in the Mass Airflow Meter.
A knock sensor sends a voltage signal to regulate ignition timing. In a Jetta, it is typically located under the air intake manifold.

They are located usual;ly on the intake manifold somewhere. If you own a 1.8T model, it is on the intake manifold near the Throttle Body.
an iat sensor is almost always located inline with the intake tube. i work on so many vw's at heart volkwagen i cant remember exactly where it is. if it is a turbo it will be most likely mounted on the inercooler. just check for a 2 wire sensor online with the intake tube.
Should be located behind the front driver's side bumper cover.
It's on your air intake, Behind your air filter box its your maf/iat combination. but that's on my 2000 jetta 2.0??? ??? I need to know what 2 wires are for the IAT sensor???
