At the top the speedometer cable is connected to a little gear in the speedometer guage, and on the bottom end it is connected to a little gear in the car's transmission.
It has an electric speedo and has a speed sensor.
speedo connected to gearbox and connected to other end not brken but not working
Look at the left side of the front axle. There should be a cable running there between the lower leg of the fork and the hub of the wheel. That's the speedometer cable. The other end should be connected to the back of the speedometer.
they dont have a cable !! its driven by a speed sensor
To replace the speedometer cable in a 1998 Toyota Corolla, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Remove the dashboard panel to access the speedometer, then detach the speedometer cable from the back of the speedometer by twisting it counterclockwise. Next, locate the other end of the cable at the transmission, disconnect it, and install the new cable by reversing the removal process, ensuring it is properly connected at both ends. Finally, reassemble the dashboard and reconnect the battery.
To change the speedometer cable on a 1981 Chevy van, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Then, remove the instrument cluster by unscrewing the necessary screws and carefully detaching the speedometer cable from the back of the gauge. Next, locate the cable at the transmission and unscrew it from the speedometer drive gear. Install the new cable by reversing the process, ensuring it is securely connected at both ends and testing the speedometer before reassembling the dashboard.
Since you replaced the sensor, and the speedometer still isn't working it is possible that you will need to replace the speedometer cable. Check the cable first to be sure that it is still properly connected, and if so replace the cable to see if that solves the problem.
It won't be a speedometer cable like the one you're probably thinking of. On the top of the transmission output shaft, there'll be a speed sensor. Connected to this speed sensor will be wires connected by a quick connect coupler. Unplug that, and you can remove the speed sensor with a ratchet and socket. Rather than a cable which goes directly to the speedometer, the F750 will have a speed sensor which sends a signal to the engine ECM, then the ECM sends a signal to the speedometer.
There is no speedometer cable on a 1991 s10. Instead it has a vehicle speed Senor or vss for short. The vss is near the tail end of the transmission and has a green and violet set of wires that connect it to the drac module under your glove box then the draconian module is connected to the ecu which is then connected to the speedometer on the instrument cluster.
The speedometer is electronic...there is no speedometer cable.
To replace the speedometer cable on a 1973 VW Super Beetle, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove the speedometer gauge from the dashboard by unscrewing it, then locate the cable attached to the back. Unscrew the old cable from the speedometer and the transmission, and replace it with the new cable, ensuring it's securely connected at both ends. Finally, reassemble the dashboard and reconnect the battery.
The most common reason for a speedometer to fail is a broken speedometer cable. Loosen the nuts on each end of the speedometer cable. Remove the speedometer cable retaining clips. Reverse the process to install the new speedometer cable.
