first get under the front of the car and look under the engine, it will be long silver on one end and black on the other its held up by two long bolts

No. The big thing to remember is to disconnect the negative (black) cable at the battery before beginning work. Fortunately, the starter is located at the front of the engine so it is easy to access. There are two wires each connected using a nut. Two bolts with 15MM heads secure the starter to the engine. That's all there is to it.
located at the drive belt end of the motor (3.0 and 3.8 engines} 3800 motors the sensor is located at the other end. A 3.8 and a 3800 are the same engine just as a 3.1 is the same as a 3100. I have never heard of a 3.0 GM engine.
It has a rev limiter, it is supposed to do that in park or neutral.
