I don't know, but mine is doing the same thing. Anyone know???? The fuel level sending unit is a float, connected to an open-face variable resistor on the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Most likely, the float sticks in that position, or the face of the resistor is gunked up, or broken. Having similar problems with an '02 Venture. I've seen several suggestions on using fuel system cleaners, etc. but didn't help me. The only "sure" fix is to replace the sending unit, which is not available as an aftermarket part. It's only available from GM, part number 88964333 (at least for the '02, check with GM dealer to make sure for your year model) and it's listed at $147.70 from GM. I know it's stiff, but look around on the 'Net and you can find it cheaper. I've got one on order and will try to update when I get it and let everyone know how tough it is to replace. Just a note, it's inside the tank, full of fuel, so sparks, open flames, extreme temps, etc. are a problem. Gas fumes can be explosive. Be careful. I had this problem on a '98 Venture as well as a '05 Buick Terazza. How did I beat it? I used LUCAS OIL upper cylinder lubricate, just added to the gas. NEVER had another problem with the fuel gauge sticking again. I'm not endorsing Lucas oil, just being truthful with what worked for me. Got tired of the wife running out of gas thinking she had a 1/2 tank.............NOT !!! BTW, Auto-Zone sell the 5 oz. for $6 and the 32 oz. for under $10..........I took the 32 oz., good for 6-7 tankfuls Saved me bunches $$$$
there is no lower intake gasket, only a front and rear gasket
inside lower front engine cover, back of damper(harmonic balance).
it may be in back corner of engine, passenger side lower.
I've got a better question, why is this question in the Chevy venture forum ?
NO ! you must lower the tank down REMOVE it from under the van and replace the fuelpump ! REMOVE FUELPUMP ASSEMBLY ,FLOAT, GAUGE UNIT ALL ! has to be replaced in one unit ! approx. $ 270.00 DANNY COLEMAN
Not sure how old this posting is but the problem could be the lower intake gasket. I just had mine replaced. If its not under warranty the dealer said it would cost $800.
It is located on the driver's side of the radiator in the lower corner. It is plastic and green in color. Mike
In the 2002 Chevy Venture, the body control module (BCM) is located under the dashboard, specifically on the driver's side. It is typically situated behind the lower dash panel, near the steering column. Accessing it may require removing the lower dash trim or panel for proper visibility and reach.
The map sensor on a Chevy venture is located under the ignition module on top of the rear cilinder bank. To access it you have to remove the ignition module. It helps a bit if you rotate the engine forward and you can lower the engine for about 4 inch. you will have to unbold the subframe on the frontside, use a hydraulic jack to take the weight and lower it carefully. this gives you the extra space needed to work on it.
On a 1998 Chevy Venture, the Body Control Module (BCM) is typically located behind the dashboard, specifically on the driver’s side. You may need to remove the lower dash panel to access it. The BCM is usually mounted to the vehicle's wiring harness, making it somewhat concealed but accessible with the right tools.
The spare tire on a Chevy Venture van is typically located under the rear of the vehicle, mounted under the cargo area. To access it, you usually need to use a crank or a tool provided in the vehicle's tool kit to lower it. Make sure to consult the owner’s manual for specific instructions and safety precautions.
7 gauge is the lower the number the thicker the gauge.
