it depends on the year of the vehicle. it could be a bad brake line or the may just need to be bled
This could be for a few reasons, but if they are getting hot without you applying them, I would suggest that they are sticking and causing the pads to rub on the discs, or if they are drum brakes, the shoes on the drums. If they are only getting hot as a result of using the brakes, I would suggest checking that the brakes are balanced properly, and that the front brakes are not doing all of the work/ or that the back brakes are working at all.
Impossible to answer from such a short description, but probably you need to tighten the cables one way or another. Try the related links.
you may have forgotten to plug in the connectors
Yes. Otherwise if the backbrakes locked abs would be useless.
Weight transfer. When a car brakes, its weight moves forward and causes the front brakes to do the majority of the work in stopping the car.
every cavalier (unless modified) has rear drum brakes and front disk brakes. Wether it has ABS or not doens't effect the changing of the brakes, it needs front pads and rotors, and back needs drums and shoes... so the front is different from the back You should disconnect the battery cable as a safety procedure so the ABS will not try to work when you are working with the brakes. Just be aware that in some GM you will need a password to unlock the radio, so be cautious about it. Good luck.
The front brakes generally do most of the work.
Rear brakes wear faster than front brakes because they handle less weight and pressure during braking, causing them to work harder and wear out more quickly.
Rear brakes can wear faster than front brakes due to factors such as vehicle weight distribution, braking habits, and the design of the braking system. The weight of the vehicle is typically more concentrated towards the front, causing the rear brakes to work harder to slow down the vehicle. Additionally, aggressive braking or frequent use of the parking brake can also contribute to faster wear on the rear brakes.
What year/make is the vehicle? Something is suspect here. If the blinkers in the rear won't work, then the ones up front won't work either because there won't be enough load on the system to cause the flasher to work. What I think, is that you probably have one of your 1157 bulbs put in wrong and it is screwing up the system in the back. In fact, if you hit the brakes, I bet the front driving lights are illuminating. Get somebody to watch.
If they are the exact same size yes, they will work, but normally they are not as large as the front brakes pads and will not fit.
For front brakes expect anywhere between about $90.00 to $1,400.00 depending on the work needed and parts used.
