First, are you sure it's the transmission? What year? Is it carburated or injected. If it's throttle-body injected you could have a partially plugged injector. If it's carburated you could have a bad accellerator pump in the carb. What you described doesn't really sound like transmission.

Answeri had a 97 Lincoln Town Car that used to stall when i was at stoping and i changed the fuel filter and it ran perfect, those filters are like 10 bucks at pep boys or auto zone, we should change them every 10,000 to 20,000 miles, but nobody ever does, hope this works AnswerCheck for vaccuum leaks

Why is 1994 Ford Escort transmission fluid grey?

Coolant from radiator? Run engine to normal operating temperature -remove transmission dipstick and let a drop fall on hot part of engine, oil will "smoke" coolant will "sizzle" If so a bad radiator allow transmission fluid from cooler lines to get mixed with engine coolant

Why won't a 1978 caprice go into drive gear?

The shifter doesn't move? - if so, the ignition switch is at fault not allowing the shifter to physically move. The transmission doesn't go into drive gear? - if so, your fluid level may be too low ... proper transmission fluid level must be maintained at all times. The only way to check that fluid level is with the engine running and at normal operating temperature. Be sure the transmission is in Park, the break set, and chocks placed at all wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.

When engine is cold first gear not slipping its normal?

When an engine is cold, the transmission fluid is also cold and thicker, which can result in firmer engagement of the gears. In first gear, this can prevent slipping, making it feel more normal as the engine and transmission components have not yet reached optimal operating temperatures. As the engine warms up, the fluid becomes less viscous, which may lead to smoother shifting and potential slipping if there are underlying issues. Therefore, a lack of slipping in first gear when cold is generally considered normal behavior.

Where is the transmission filler cap?

There is no filler cap for a transmission. to add fluid you must pour it down the dipstick tube. only check the level of the fluid with the engine idling at normal running temperature.
