The French Revolution was unlike the American one in many ways. In France the revolutionaries behaved like terrorists and even people friendly to the cause were executed. The American Constitution was far too liberal for the French revolutionaries. The French fought alongside the Americans against the English to accomplish a democratic, independent nation and the declaration of independence France as bankrupt at the time, so the people were very poor. Meanwhile they saw their monarchs in all their wealth and began to see them as tirans. The stories of the French soldiers that had fought in America began to spread and the French people wanted a democratic, independent non-royal state as well. Revolutionary ideas turned into real plans of attack. They wanted to rid themselves of a monarchy ruled by the royals, clergy and aristocrats. They wanted a say in the reigning of the country as well.Though, the French did not think it through very well, because when the revolution was over, the country was one huge chaos and no other European country wanted anything to do with the bloodthirsty French who had slaughtered thousands in their revolution.
Secondly, the nation was bankrupt and could not even properly feed its people. Looking to the American Revolution was probably not a major factor as food.

∙ 15y agoIt made other countries revolt for their freedom. For example, lots of the countries in South American didn't want to be ruled by the Spanish anymore, so they fought. Another example is the Russian Revolution. They fought against France during France's revolution because they feared that their country would do the same.

∙ 6y agoThe American revolution affected other countries in a very serious manner especially in terms of the economies of countries that traded with USA like France. It also proved that a revolution could work.
The issue however is more complex than that. For example, the king of France spent millions of dollars on the French war effort in favor of the Americans. Later those funds would be needed as France was running out of food and jobs. In 1789, the French Revolution totally changed France. On the other hand, Great Britain lost a very valuable set of colonies. The long term result was that the US became a stronger nation than Great Britain.

The American Revolution came about because the British government did not fully realize the seriousness of the unrest and dissatisfaction which soon developed in its colonies in North America. The British government in London considered the distant colonies more as a possession than as an extension of its territory and people. Ill-will between the British government and its colonies in North America began to develop after 1763.
The American colonies had enjoyed a large degree of self-government, and they wanted even greater freedom from British control, so they resented the imposition of stronger British rule and heavier taxes. The colonists refused to pay these taxes, and in 1773 the Boston Tea Party was staged to dump incoming tea into the harbor rather than pay taxes on it. Troops were sent into Massachusetts to strengthen British authority. Other events which aggravated the growing dissatisfaction in the colonies were new laws which limited westward settlement, restricted colonial trade with other countries and required colonists to house British soldiers stationed in their communities. All these laws are passed without consultation of the colonists.
When the American Revolution erupted in 1776, King Louis XVI of France supported the American colonies in their bid for independence from the United Kingdom. Little did the King know that he had helped bring about his own downfall. French military and financial support seriously weakened the French economy. In 1789, the same revolutionary fervor crossed the Atlantic Ocean and erupted in France. The effects of these revolutions spread around the world, as absolute monarchies in many other countries were replaced much more peacefully with limited constitutional monarchies, republics and other democracies.
The American Revolution officially began with a document, the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The French Revolution officially began with an action, the Storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. The most obvious difference was that the American Revolution resulted in the newly independent United States, whereas the French Revolution overthrew its own government. However, the French people were greatly impressed with the ideals of freedom and democracy sought by the new United States, and these greatly influenced their thinking. In the 1780's, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson came to France as diplomats, and their presence in Paris greatly impressed the French people.

∙ 12y agoQuite likely. So did the writings of Rousseau and Voltaire. What brought about the French Revolution however was the economic collapse of France and the resulting food shortages. It became a grass roots Revolution and when that happened there was no way to put the Genie back in the bottle.

America was allies with France, who supported the Americans. The American Revolution inspired the French Revolution, but since the French Revolution was so bloody, Americans didn't openly support the French Revolution, which made the French annoyed.
The American Revolution inspired many other revolutions such as the Haitian Revolution and the French Revolution. The American Revolution showed that Revolutions could be started and ended with a good outcome. So the Haitians, Latins, French, and a bunch of other countries revolted.

The American Revolution
The French Revolution is most likely to be compared to the American Revolution because the French peasants had gotten the idea of the American's Constitution and the idea of rebelling from the leader.
It was the American Revolution, and its success, that significantly inspired the French Revolution. The French Revolution lasted from 1789 to 1799.
Enlightenment thinkers of Europe had a profound impact on Western culture and politics. For example, their ideas heavily influenced the American Revolution and the French Revolution, both of which were rooted in democratic ideals.
