It was pretty much the battles of Oriskany and Benington. These battles weakened General Burgoyne's number of troops and sapped his stock of supplies. These battles also made Burgoyne flee to Saratoga where the Continental Army led by General Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold could close in on him.
