I am not sure any president's son died on Mt. Washington. Several presidents lived to see a son die-- Abraham Lincoln lost two young sons, Calvin Coolidge's son also died young... but they were not climbing mountains. Mr. Lincoln's son Eddie died at the age of four, probably from tuberculosis; another son, Willie, died at age 11, probably of typhoid. A third son, Tad lived only to the age of 18 and died of heart disease. Calvin Coolidge's son was also in his teens when he died of blood poisoning. Another president whose sons died was Franklin Pierce-- his young son Frank died at age four, from typhus, and his son Benjamin died in a railroad accident at age 11. (You asked about George Washington, but he and Martha did not have children, so no son of theirs died.)
First president- George Washington and Martha did not have any children between them but Martha had a son and daughter by a previous marriage. Both children died young. Second president- John Adams was the first president to have children. One of his children John Quincy Adams also became president.
Three US Presidents had sons who died during their terms. President Lincoln's son, Willie Lincoln, was the only president's son to die in the White House, in 1862. He was 12 years old. President Coolidge's son, Calvin, died less than a year into his father's presidency, in July, 1924. He was 16 years old. President Kennedy had a son, Patrick, who was born prematurely and died on August 9, 1963. He was only 2 days old.
I think you are referring to the apparently false legend that John Tyler was playing marbles with his grandchildren when he was notified that the death of Harrison had made him president.
George Herbert Walker Bush was the 41st President of the United States. His son, George Walker Bush was the 43rd President of the United States. This is the second time a father & son have both been elected President.
Franklin Pierce had a son named Bennie who died when their train's carriage detached and rolled down an embankment. Pierce and his wife had 3 children together, all of whom died during childhood.
