Elbridge Gerry (born July 17, 1744 in Marblehead, Massachusetts; died November 23, 1814 in Washington DC) served as the fifth vice-President of the United States, serving between March 4, 1813 and November 23, 1814.

Following Gerry's death, there was a vacancy in the role of vice-President until the appointment of the next person to take on the role, Daniel D. Tompkins (born June 21, 1774 in Scarsdale, New York; died June 11, 1825 in Tompkinsville, Staten Island, New York) on March 4, 1817.
