∙ 16y agoIf the remote car starter stopped working after a new battery was installed in the remote, the remote needs to be reprogrammed. If the remote starter stopped working after a new battery was installed in the vehicle, the computer might need to be reset by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
Most commonly, it's the starter or the starter was wired wrong when it was installed. More rarely, it can also be the keyswitch or even a bad gear on the flex-plate.
it might of not been your starter to begin with. maybe a bad fuel pump

It's quite a process that shouldn't be attempted without the factory service manual. Basically, you need to remove the intake manifold to get to the starter. After the intake is off, it's easy to do. But the factory service manual would have all the info you need to safely and correctly remove the intake without damaging any of the delicate fuel injection parts.

Not sure, but had to run a wire from the battery to starter and hold it on a starter terminal to turn the starter after replacing it. I think it may be an ignition switch problem but haven't figured out how to get to it yet.

no installig a starter wrong will not cause engine knocking. all that will do is maybe short fuses, heat up wires, ruin your starter, or melt wires. knocking isn't electrical it is mechanical like lifters, pistons, valves, things like that
if you push the button and it starts then it is installed
