If you use very much and very often, potentially, yes.

Occasional use seems to not be much of a problem.

Why dont the engine start without starter fluid?

Not getting any fuel.

Have to spray starting fluid in the throttle body to start 1985 gmc jimmy S-15 any suggestions It is a v6 and has new fuel pump?

easiest and safest way to spray starter fluid is to spray it straight into air cleaner. you will not need to remove anything to do this and the engine will suk the fluid thru you really need to have the throttle body looked at ,as starter fluid is primarily for use in a diesel, not a gas engine

Your if your Ford Fiesta 1800 diesel wont start its not the battery or starter motor or the alternator?

try squirting some sarter fluid in air filter .if this starts engine and then dies, try it again. if engine will run as long as you squirt starter fluid ,the stop when starter fluid runs out, pretty much means you are not getting fuel. so you then need to check fuel filter, fuel pump injectors and injector pump until you find the problem

Is your motor ruined if you used ether or starting fluid to start your 6.2 diesel engine?

There is a chance of it, that engine has glow plugs, starting fluid can explode when the glow plugs come on causing engine damage. Before using starting fluid on this type engine, make sure glow plugs are not plugged in, and can not come on.

Where is the starter fuse located?

At the back end of the engine is a large ring gear connected to the engine crankshaft. If there is a starter (some engines do not have starters) it will be mounted in the engine such that the bendix gear of the starter can engage the ring gear and spin the crankshaft. It's called a bendix because it jumps out to engage the ring gear (while the starter motor is running) and retracts off of the ring gear once the engine is running (starter motor no longer running). It is typically access from under the car. If you must replace it, let the engine cool off first. Otherwise the starter will be just as hot as the engine is.

How much to repair for mistaking diesel in gasoline engine?

Just drain the fuel tank, blow out the fuel lines, replace the fuel filter, fill the tank with fresh fuel, and it will be fine. You may have to use starter fluid to get it starter and it may run rough for a few minutes but no damage will be done. Putting gasoline in a diesel will destroy a diesel engine, but putting diesel in a gasoline engine will do no permanent damage.

What do you do when diesel was put in petrol car?

Drain the fuel tank or pump it out. Remove and replace the fuel filter. Use starter fluid to start the engine. No damage will be done and the engine will run fine once all the diesel is removed.

Where to spray starter fluid?

Starter fluid should be sprayed into the throttle body intake. Spray in small amounts, as the fluid is highly flammable. Any over spray could ignite if the engine backfires.

Can stalling damage a starter mortor?

The more you use the starter to start the engine the more wear is demand is placed on it. So, yes, in a sense stalling and restarting does harm the starter.

1989 f350 only starts with starter fluid but runs after?

you are loosing fuel pressure in the fuel system somewhere using starter fluid allows engine to start and pump fuel there by purging air from the system
