Yes, the car is usually designed to do so. In a frontal crash, the vehicle's engine/motor mounts break so that the engine can drop to the ground and basically the car can move over top of the engine without it bypassing the firewall and injuring passengers.
This you could get away with for awhile without further damage. Motor mounts have a built in safety device to keep the engine in place when the rubber mount breaks.

All Toyota Camry's have struts in the front. This is also accompanied with strut mounts and bearings that are located between the mount & strut. I highly recommend replacing the mounts & strut bearings with the struts. My experience has shown that the mounts fail before the strut.
