How do you replace the heater core on a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer?

Its a tough job. You have to remove the dash panel, including the steering wheel and steering column and then remove the plenum box which involve evacuating the refrigerant system and draining the radiator. Once you get the heater box out, replacing the heater core will take about 10min and then you have to put it all back together and recharge the AC and fill the radiator. If you are seeing leak problems with the system, you will have to go through this process. If the problem is lack of heat and/or AC control, the problem is more likely the blend door. This is a common fail on the Cherokee. You can get diagnostic information and an inexpensive fix on the HeaterTreater web site. Follow my user name to my Bio Page for a pointer or just search heatertreater on any search engine. ford4me

How do you get to the heater core on a 2002 dodge ram 1500 pick up?

In order to get to the heater core you will have to remove the dash. If your Dodge is like mine and I am assuming that you are wanting to replace your heater core because it is bad then it will take a lot to get this job done. First you need to drain your system of coolant, remove your negative battery cable. The dash has different kind of fasteners. It is held in place with screws and clips. According to the Chilton manual it requires the ac system to be discharged and the accumulator to be removed when replacing the heater core. I'm checking it out to see if I really will have to do this. If you are still in need of help you can e-mail me to see where I am at on the replacement of my heater core.
