Hmm... not directly it assists the trottle body through maintaining the air to fuel ratio specified for the engine in return the troottle body controls some sensor components of the transmission resulting in its performance so in short the trottle body plays an important role in the transmission's function and the air flow sensor plays an important role in the trottle body's function.
