Well sad to say your going to need some special tool. Like a steering wheel puller and a locking plate remover. some torx sockets like a t15 or a t20. but be careful with the clock spring that's the round plastic thing that's hooked to the air bag. So remove the air bag the wheel and remove the locking plate then remove the to screws on the turn signal switch then u should see a torx on your right hand side of the column and remove it but u must make sure that the new key has the same chip witch really is a resistor this is very important.

At any rate, we changed to the spare and the light went out and stayed out. That was over a year ago, so sounds like he was right!
