take it to autozone they test for free failing that try this
pre-90's car? unplug the battery while running if the engine dies it's probably a bad alternator (or the alternator is too small for the electrical load of the vehicle)
after 90's? hook a multimeter to the battery while engine is running the voltage should be between 13.5 and 15.5 volts depending on engine rpm
Depend on what make and model vehicle you are installing it on. Any auto parts store can quote you the price.
First start the car then pull off the positive on the battery if the car dies than you need a new alternator if the car keeps running u may need a new battery. A word of caution, testing an alternator that way can cause damage to the alternator. The alternator needs power to make power unlike the old generators from the past.
ALTINATOR OR STARTER. JUMP START CAR, TAKE POSITIVE CABLE OFF BATTERY,IF CAR DIES IT IS ALTERNATOR. GOOD LUCK
could be the alternator. could be the battery, the alternator charges the battery but does not stop the battery holding a charge.could also be a bad starter motor. take alternator off and have it tested. most places will test for free
Hi there, there are numerous possibilities on what it could be so i have listed below in order to change first cheapest to the most expensive. 1. Change Sparkplugs and leads 2. Get an auto electrition to check your altinator it may need changing 3. If your car is EFI (Electronic Fuel Injected) change the coil pack, if not EFI change or recondition your distributor 4. Could be a sensor or a solinoide problem 5. If its EFI it could also be the ECU/ECM which means your computer for the car. hope this helps. its what i would do.
check the altinator
how do u lossen the altinator belt on a 91 honda accord
maybe the Altinator or crossed wires Check Your fuse box
Voltage regulator built into the Altinator is bad. Replace voltage reg or whole altinator
no they have a stator
Check the fan belts, either they are worn or one of the components (altinator, air conditioning, power steering) is loose.
first romove the altinator belt then from under the car detach the altinator harness connectors then remove the lower bracket then remove the adjusting bolt then last remove the bolts and take the altinator out it might be a little tight but it will come out from under the car
when my car did this this is what i didi sugest taking it in to your nearest part store to have your battery tested it usually is free as well if your battery is not the problem you might want to check your alternator it maybe faulty and need replaceing one way to check to see is if it your altinator is park in front of a building with your head lights on and watch to see if they go dimm if so your altinator is your more likely bet
No
altinator
how do I loosen and adjust altinator
loosen altinator, loosen smog pump, take smog pump belt loose, then take altinator belt over smog pump belt and over fan
