Depend on what make and model vehicle you are installing it on. Any auto parts store can quote you the price.

Car will not start unless the battery is jumped started but the battery is okay what could be wrong with the 1995 Chevy blazer?

ALTINATOR OR STARTER. JUMP START CAR, TAKE POSITIVE CABLE OFF BATTERY,IF CAR DIES IT IS ALTERNATOR. GOOD LUCK

MY car will start when jumped but sometimes start and die and the battery will not keep charge could this be the altinator?

could be the alternator. could be the battery, the alternator charges the battery but does not stop the battery holding a charge.could also be a bad starter motor. take alternator off and have it tested. most places will test for free

How do you check your altinator?

take it to autozone they test for free failing that try this pre-90's car? unplug the battery while running if the engine dies it's probably a bad alternator (or the alternator is too small for the electrical load of the vehicle) after 90's? hook a multimeter to the battery while engine is running the voltage should be between 13.5 and 15.5 volts depending on engine rpm

1999 grand am se Check the altinator to see if it's charging the battery?

First start the car then pull off the positive on the battery if the car dies than you need a new alternator if the car keeps running u may need a new battery. A word of caution, testing an alternator that way can cause damage to the alternator. The alternator needs power to make power unlike the old generators from the past.

Why would a 1992 Toyota celica ST and it wont start it goes to start but wont turn over what is it?

Hi there, there are numerous possibilities on what it could be so i have listed below in order to change first cheapest to the most expensive. 1. Change Sparkplugs and leads 2. Get an auto electrition to check your altinator it may need changing 3. If your car is EFI (Electronic Fuel Injected) change the coil pack, if not EFI change or recondition your distributor 4. Could be a sensor or a solinoide problem 5. If its EFI it could also be the ECU/ECM which means your computer for the car. hope this helps. its what i would do.
