White vinegar is a tried and tested method for removing water stains from most items. It should work well for pottery, see the natural method below:

Method to Use:
1.Fill a clean spray bottle with pure vinegar
2.Spray the vinegar freely over the pottery and wait for a few minutes
3.If stains are stubborn spray more vinegar and wait a while longer
4.Simply wipe away with a clean cloth
go to staples or dome such place and buy a can of compressed air (usually used to dust off delicate computer parts), take your piece(s) outside and spray your dust away.
Vaseline will leave a waxy build-up on top of the clothes. Scrape as much of this off as you can without damaging the fabric. Rub both sides of the stains with liquid detergent and wash them in hot water.

Bit of spit and a rub
You can clean salt stains off of Nubuck shoes using a solution of water and vinegar. Try and clean the stain as soon as you can for best results.
Use Bleach and hot Soap Water. Leave it in there for a while and then use a sponge to wipe it off.

Salt stains on nylon boots can be removed with soap and water. The salt can also be removed by allowing it to dry and then rubbing it off.
If you are referring to paint stains, get them off with the thinner of the paint you've been using, then wash in warm soapy water and use a hand lotion after.
