Use the spacers to change the pulley configuration.

The alternator pulley halves separates when you remove the large retaining nut at the center. More spacers between the pulley halves loosens the belt.

Fewer spacers between the pulley halves TIGHTEN the belt.

Keep the extra spacers under the large washer so you'll have them to adjust the NEXT belt.

How do you change the clock and thermometer in a 1999 VW Beetle from 24 hour to 12 hour and from celsius to degrees?

There have been several instrux to this effect for 2000 Beetles, and it also works on 1999:If your battery has run down, been disconnected, or replaced - your VW will reset itself to the default settings for the time and temperature. You will see the time displayed as military time where 6 PM will show as 18:00. You can set the clock to standard time (with the ignition OFF) by pressing both the H and M buttons. If you now turn the ignition switch to ON, you can press both the H and M button and the temperature will now display as Fahrenheit rather than celsius.Update: this was just tested on a 1999 Beetle and it works.

Why isn't there a spark in a 1992 Mercury Tracer?

The coil in the Cirrus is a very small unit inside the distributor, When it gets warm, it short circuits its own windings. This occurs in the secondary or high tension section of the coil with little or no output to the plugs. Also it does not set a fault code because OBD-1 & 2 opnly reads the primary section of the coil. Aftermarket coils are available which connect to the original terminal on the distributor. An adapter is required to connect the new high tension lead.

What is AMF?

AMF panel is the short form of Auto Man Failure panel. It is normally connected to the generator set to control the generator set function. It can call the generator set if the AMF further connected to the Main Switch Board ( received power from the other source - normally from the local authority ) which equipped with auto transfer switch/automatic changeover contactor. While normal supply serve to main switch board failed, the AMF board will send the power failure signal to generator set. Then the generator set will run and serve the supply to main switch board.
