I am afraid not. The best way would be to strip the whole thing and get it back to natural wood (if that's the finish you desire). After stripping, light sanding it is recommended. Once the oak trim is bare, wipe it clean with thinner on a rag and paint/varnish. Old homes usually have unique trimming which replacement is not easy to find and/or very expensive to do so. Have some patience and do small sections at a time, a varnished oak trim is beautiful and will be rewarding to look at once you're done.

Stripping has different meanings. Generally, stripping means to remove or take off (something). Stripping paint or stain from (usually wood) is a chemical process that takes paint or stain off and returns wood to almost its natural state. Stripping can also mean to take off all your clothes (including underwear).

There are a variety of weather stripping types, but with the old foam type you can just tear out the old stripping before you install the new stripping. If it is very old, there might be some glue residue which can be removed usually with something like nail polish remover. This is how we removed our old stripping.
