My car knocks because it had no oil what can I do I think the car is loosing power and I have to get back and forth from work I have a cheap mechanic but no time to go today or tomorrow what should?

if car knocks due to no oil, the damage has already been done.do not continue to drive,as you will make it worse. the knocking sound is an indication of a bad main or crankshaft bearing. keep driving and you will sieze the bearings altogether and need a new crank if not a new block

A lot of things could cause this, which might not really be a problem. Multi viscosity oils are thin when cold, and thicken as they become warm. If the engine is being operated at or near the red line, the sump will be starved for oil, and so will the bearings, and all that is doing is burning up the bearings- they are getting hot due to lack of oil from two counts- heat from friction, and overheating because of the lack of cooling from not having sufficient amount of oil being pumped through the engine. Regular oil changes, and a good quality oil helps also.
