They started getting taxed around 1773, the time of the Boston Tea Party
While the Boston Tea Party was going on, Seven ships with East India Company tea were heading for the colonies. Four were heading towards Boston. Colonists were anxious and wanted the ships to return to Britain. The Tea Act actually lowered tea prices, but colonists were angry because of their lack of representation. Other Tea ships in other cities turned back, but the Boston Governor would not stand down. There was no killing.
The Boston tea party was an act of colonists of Boston of which they did not want to be taxed on tea so they refused to take it out of the ships. But they couldn't send it back to England because their govenor wouldn't allow it, and said that it was to be held for 20 days, and if not unloaded by that time, would be sold at auction to pay for the tax. The whole point was so that the colonists wouldn't pay the tax though, so groups of men went and split up into 3 groups and destroyed all the tea on the ships, and then threw the tea into the Boston harbor.
The tea in question belonged to the East India Company, a private business. And at the time it was commited, there was no U.S. The perpetrators were British subjects. So definitely not.
since I was there 200 years ago, I know the exact time.... it happened at night time and I saw lots of people throw tea on December 17th, 1773....like c'mon....who would know the exact time... all the people who were there are DEAD.
the time was dec16,1973or12/16/73
The British closed the Port of Boston for a period of time, and increased taxes.
The Boston Tea Party occured while the United States was still ruled by Great Britain, so there was no U.S. president serving at the time.
The appropriate time...exactly when something was meant to occur...when the time was ripe...and so on
