The Boston tea party was an act of colonists of Boston of which they did not want to be taxed on tea so they refused to take it out of the ships. But they couldn't send it back to England because their govenor wouldn't allow it, and said that it was to be held for 20 days, and if not unloaded by that time, would be sold at auction to pay for the tax. The whole point was so that the colonists wouldn't pay the tax though, so groups of men went and split up into 3 groups and destroyed all the tea on the ships, and then threw the tea into the Boston harbor.
