My guess is that it is on right top side of trammy, but not shure, kinda dark right now, if wrong i will repost when light=) it is below the engine and has three bolts. Be carefull though I had an 87 escort back in 1990 and when I had to change the starter the bolts would not turn, eventually the head snapped right off - had a similar problem with a probe. The starter has a strong twisting force and it probably really jams the bolts in after years.
always follow your battery cables to find the starter, but on a mustang look on the passenger side of motor at the bell housing, remember to change a starter or any electrical repairs , disconnect the positive cable on the battery
the starter is located right below the factory air filter box
on the transmission where the engine and transmission join.
On the backside under the intake. Should be able to access it between motor and the brake master cylindar. Tight, but can be done.
behind the engine
First make sure that this battery has a charge. Check its volts. Then if the battery is good, make sure the conectionns are clean. Then clean the connection to the starter relay ( solenoid ) just beside the battery. Then if needed, clean the conx. at the starter. If all the conx. are good, and still no start, jump the positive battery conx. at the starter relay to one of the small plug in conx. If the starter engages, then possible bad ign. switch. Hope something works. Good luck.
The starter solenoid is located (in a 1989 mercury grand marquis), as you raise the hood, on the left hand side of the engine compartment. Just behind the battery. (you should be standing right in front of the passenger side headlight.)
starter solenoid is on the inside of the fender twards the cab from the battery follow the positive battery cable at the end will be the solenoid
disconnect neg batt cable, remove wires from starter, remove 2 mounting bolts top and bottom located where engine meets transmission on passenger side of motor. lift out starter... install in reverse order
Disconnect the - battery cable Raise and support vehicle Disconnect the wiring at top of starter Remove mounting bolts Remove starter
the fuel pump on the crown Victoria is located in the gas tank and if replacing it you have to remove the tank to get to it...Dennis Sison
The gasket is between the head and the intake.
on top of the intake
