Brake booster problem?
Check around brake pedal for something rubbing. If OK, I'd look into the master cylinder.
Adjust the brake switch located on either the brake lever itself, or it will be attached underneath the dash. SOunds like your brake switch is off or broken. Look at the brake pedal and there is a switch around it that gets activated by you pushing the pedal - that is what needs to be adjusted or replaced. The brake light switch has probably come loose or broken. Look under the dash near the brake pedal arm. There is a switch attached to a bracket.
Any time the brake pedal is hard to press then you need to check and see if the brake booster is functioning properly.
check brake light fuse and brake light switch on pedal
true!
Yes.
It would be the rubber pad that sits on your brake pedal. Unless they were referring to brake pads, which are the pads which enables your vehicle to stop by pressing the brake pedal.
brake switch located on the top of the brake pedal
Usually that would be caused by a faulty brake light switch connected TO the brake pedal. If the brakes work the pedal is probably ok.
Yes. Most cars have a hydraulic braking system that uses a vacuum servo (or booster). It is a mechanical device between the brake pedal and the master cylinder piston. The booster uses the engine's manifold vacuum to amplify the force applied from the brake pedal.
Check the switch adjustment on the brake pedal arm.
It should be on either the pedal shaft or the pedal frame.
out of brake fluid?
It is above the brake pedal not under it. Follow the brake pedal bracket all the way up and you will see the brake pedal switch.
if brake pedal is soft , either there is air in the system ,a brake fluid leak, or brake linings and pads are worn allowing the pedal to travel to far if there is a fluid leak, this can usually be found by getting under vehicle and looking at inside of wheels for brake fluid
A dashboard light appearing when brake pedal is depressed usually means brake fluid is low.
