It is depending on which codecs that's installed in the TV. Decoding media is fairly advanced and there are so many different codecs like: AVI, DivX, MPEG-4, Ogg, MP3, Wma and many many more. Look up if your TV software can be upgraded via the internet. Search Google for "Sony Bravia codec update". The function to play video may not exist. The tv can play broadcasts and show info from an other source but not decode video. Soundformats that is supported for the TV are most likely just mp3 and wma. They have chosen music above video because it simple. My tip for you is to hook up you computer to the television and play your movies that way.
