To change the rear hatch handle on a 2004 Toyota Sequoia, first, open the rear hatch and remove the interior trim panel by unscrewing any screws and unclipping the fasteners. Once the panel is off, disconnect the electrical connector for the handle if applicable, then remove the bolts securing the handle to the hatch. After that, install the new handle by reversing the removal steps, ensuring everything is securely fastened before reattaching the trim panel.
rear hatch outer handle, or if the part your'e talking about is inside the door its called a rear hatch doorlatch...hey it rhymes!
Open the rear hatch, there is a plastic panel that is at the top of the hatch which is long and thin.. It snaps out and the light is behind it. Careful though, the clips break.. I took it Toyota, I couldn't figure it out..
Yes, it is the handle on the outside of the hatch.

where is the botton to open back door on 2003 toyota sequoia
There's an excellent discussion of this problem at this thread: http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic203428.htm The quick answer is that you remove the inside handle and strap, pull off the vinyl cover and replace the handle. A new handle will cost you ~$70 at a Toyota dealer, but it's still much cheaper than paying that same dealer ~$400 to do it for you.
Yes, it should fit perfectly.
To open the rear hatch door of a 2001 Toyota Sequoia, first ensure that the vehicle is in the "Park" position. Locate the rear hatch release button on the driver's side or use the key fob to unlock the door. If the hatch is still locked, you can manually unlock it using the key in the lock located on the hatch itself. Once unlocked, simply lift the hatch to open it.
Even the manual is vague here. You need to look under the chrome trim where the main hatch lever is. Off to the far right is a handle which, if you get down and look, appears to be a vent or something. Put your fingers in and pull up, this will release the hatch... then pull up on the small handle on the hatch itself.
